EnginX

EnginX (former Machine Precision) develops software services that allow engineers at system-integrator companies to work faster while making fewer mistakes.

Machine Precision complies with the following SDG goals:

  • SDG 9: Industry, innovation and infrastructure
  • SDG 11: Sustainable cities and communities

What drives you?

We are obsessed with the beauty of engineering, the math and the machines, and its benefits to humanity. With every line of code we write, we strive to build the best possible tools with which engineers can change the world.

How did Mercator Launch help you?

Through the Innovation Competition and Discovery Track, I learned how to pitch a business idea, how to develop a business model, and how to test that business model. Because of that, we have been able to secure two pilot projects with engineering firms.

What are the future plans for Machine Precision?

In the short term, we wish to successfully execute the pilot projects.
In the longer term, we believe our technology can make a real difference for engineering firms, and that it is scalable, potentially becoming a big business. But we also realize the challenges ahead. All in all, we hope to A) find a business model that really works, and B) get lots of customers! If the business is viable and growing in 5 years, I will consider it to be successful.

What do you need to make this happen?

We have a rough business model, but we want to perfect it more, and find the low-hanging fruits that will really sustain a business. Provided we can do that, and provided we successfully complete our pilot projects, we will seek funding to develop our tech into a full product.

What tip would you give other entrepreneurs?

Really listen to the advice experienced business people give you.
Realize that small deals are the way to start, and that they are more fundamental to a business than big ideas!
